With 11 million square kilometers, France has the second largest exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the world. Thanks to the multiple climates present in the area, this EEZ offers a considerable wealth in biodiversity. Yet marine biological resources and their various potential applications in agriculture, medicin or cosmetics remain very little explored. EMBRC-France, or the national marine biological resource center, provides the scientific community and enterprises a complete set of services to access and study coastal marine biodiversity and Mediterranean or Atlantic ecosystems at distance. EMBRC accompanies your projects by offering the scientific expertise on emerging marine models.

Each of the three marine stations of Banyuls-sur-Mer, Roscoff and Villefranche-sur-mer has its own specialties, and strive to deepen the knowledge of this biodiversity, joint under the supervision of the Pierre and Marie Curie University and the CNRS. They unite their forces under the Centre National de Ressources Biologiques Marines, EMBRC-France. EMBRC-France enjoys the support of "Future Investments" program and the strong involvement of Britain Regions, PACA and Languedoc Roussillon and the clusters of “Mer Bretagne Atlantique” and “Mer Méditerranée” in its governance.

Services of EMBRC include the shipping of marine organisms from the 3 marine stations Banyuls, Roscoff and Villefranche. On site you will benefit from high level technology platforms (bioinformatics, imaging, crystallography, etc.), the expertise of the local teams and their laboratories together with other facilities as for example accommodation facilities, catering and various means of access to the sea (ships, diving, etc. ).
